Emergencies

Hello dog friends, friends of dogs and cats,

Thank you all for your get well wishes and looks of pity in my direction, not sure which has helped more but it's working. I still have a way to go so I'm resting and spending less time romping and more time reading.

Usually I enjoy the classics, like "Go Dog Go" or "Old Yeller" (always makes me cry). Lately I've been reading about my animal friends who are suffering in Japan in the wake of the earthquake and Tsunami disaster. Kind of makes what I'm going through look like a walk in the park.

So I asked my mom if we could help. I suggested that we send a bone but she seemed to think that we should send money (personally I think a bone would be better, but they seemed to prefer money for some reason).

The organization we gave money to is World Vets. They're a non-profit, non-governmental group of volunteer vets who are in Japan and 25 other countries helping animals AND people get better. They're doing great work but they could use all the support they can get so dig deep (uh, in your pockets not in the ground this time).

And when you have a minute, check out this video of this dog in Japan who wouldn't leave his friend's side until they were both rescued. Goes to show you that we're not just man's best friend but also each other's. Warning: It'll make you cry, well it did that to me.

Anyways, going to stop barking and take a cat nap now. Hopefully my dog dreams and the dreams of my dog friends in Japan will get better day by day. Thanks for sitting, staying and reading. Do good human!

Pain in the foot!

Hello dog friends, friends of dogs and cats,

First, I must apologize for being so slack in barking these past 2 weeks. However, I have a super reason. Well, not so super cuz it's an ouchy reason. The reason: I lost a dewclaw nail. And not lost in the "I can't find it way" but lost as in I broke it. Here's my sad story:

I woke up on Saturday like I always do to take a walk to the park with my dad. We go to this park where squirrels live and my job is to chase them. I'm usually really careful when I do it, (see in the picture here I'm abiding by all the squirrel chasing laws) except this time.

I chased this squirrel who was talking poop, saying how I couldn't climb the tree so I'd never get him! It got me so mad that I ran up the tree after him, just to prove that I could. And that's when it happened, my dew claw snagged on the trunk and broke! It hurt like a bitch!! The squirrel thought this was hi-lar-ious, and told all his friends. So embarrassing!

The squirrel may have won the battle, but I WILL win the war! It still hurts but I'm getting better. Here I am with my bandage of honor. Typing with one paw ain't easy, but I wanted to give a shout out to my pals and so...

Enough about feeling sorry for me (and I am accepting get well treats, in case you wondered). I wanted to post pictures of my new friends at dog park from last, last Sunday. A bum paw never stopped me from making a new friend, but it might delay me in barking about it.

Sorry I can't come out to play for a little while guys, but I'll bark some more after a little rest off the ol' paw. Have fun for me out there in dog parkland. Thanks for sitting, staying and reading, good human!

I Get By With A Lil Help From My Friends

Hello dog friends, friends of dogs and cats,

So you know how I started my life in the pound? It's nobody's favorite way to start out but, well, I guess if I wasn't there I wouldn't have met my parents, thus saving them from having a boring life. And I wouldn't have had all the opportunities I have now.

One such opportunity is spending time at Paradise Ranch Pet Resort. My parents take me there thinking that I'm getting a vacation or something but, in fact, there's a lot to do there and it keeps me very busy.

I mean look right here. There I am patrolling the area making sure the waterfall and pool are in tip top shape. And it was! No problems to report I'm happy to say. This is just one of many pool areas to inspect, some even have fountains I need to personally taste to ensure they spray right. And they almost always do but, I gotta be through of course.

Ok, well here I am technically resting but in fact, that was a scheduled union break. I can't work all the time after all. Just glad I covered up my sensitive areas in this shot! I'm sure my boyfriend would no appreciate me showing off the goods!

But there see, back to work again. I was checking something Gabby had pointed out. Oh right, that's Gabby one of my favorite co-workers at Paradise Ranch. She started coming to Paradise Ranch when she was about 4 months old I believe, just like me. Now she's super friendly and good at playing with the other dogs. There's really something to socializing, just makes everyone nicer to be around. And she's not the only friend I've made along the way.

Here are some more at Laurel Canyon dog park who seem to share a love of my mom's treats in common with me.

Aw, puppy, it kind of hurts she's so cute. Well, speaking of friends you can see a lot of my friends at Paradise Ranch at: Facebook.com/paradiseranchpetresort

Also, you can be my friend on Dogbook (that's right, it exists!)

My mom said to stop barking now so, gotta go. Thanks for sitting, staying and reading, good human!

Good Karma and Good Cookies!

Hello once again to all my dog friends, friends of dogs, and cats!

Big News: My parents and I had a business meeting about which organization to support in March. Here's a hint, it's Karma Rescue!! Oh, guess that's not a hint. Sorry, too excited to hold it back.

Karma rescue does important work. They take dogs out of high kill shelters and find happy homes for them to live in. It sounds simple because it's only one sentence but it's not, it's actually very hard work. Karma Rescue is so good at what they do that Los Angeles Magazine voted them the city's best adoption service! I guess they have pretty good Karma. Read all about them at: www.karmarescue.org

By the way, here is just one doggy friend that you could adopt from Karma Rescue. Meet Janie Z! She's a 4 year old Pit/American bull dog who likes other dogs her size and is great on leash (my parents only WISH I were, ha!) She's a pretty girl, and so stylish! Gotta find out where she shops...

It has been a busy week! That meeting we had AND baking goodies! Mom spent most of the week baking, decorating and packaging a fresh batch of cookies for everyone. I gotta say, when she bakes, it drives me SO crazy!

The delicious smells of natural peanut butter, organic sweet potatoes and cinnamon just fill the whole house up. I get so excited I can't help but hang around while the cookies are cooling on the racks. As soon as those cookies have cooled down, I'm right there giving them the first sniff test. Then I see how fast I can stuff one into my face! I take my Chief Baked Goods Tester job very seriously and frankly, I think I'm pretty good at it.

I'm happy to make it official: the new batch is in fact, yummy! Also, they're pretty fun to look at (though I don't do much of that.) Take a look for yourself.

My mom calls this cookie series the "Give a Dog a Home! Baked Cookie," Version 1 (she says she's perfecting her cookies with each batch, so the next one may be a little different.) But I think these are pretty cool.

They're made with gluten-free oat flour, organic sweet potatoes, natural unsalted peanut butter AND covered with a natural yogurt frosting. The dog house tastes delicious, the heart is also good and the carob frosted paw is the best paw I ever licked.

And I'm not the only one who likes my mama's baking. We took the cookies to dog park and wouldn't you know it, we found a bunch of other dogs who agreed with us. Mom wasn't sure you'd believe us so she took pictures of our new pals.

Here's one picture (that's Dee Dee!) See more at: www.flickr.com/photos/rosiesbarkery/sets/Sunday in the Park

A yummy time was had by all ...

Well, that's all the bark I have today. Gotta go chew on a bone and groom my cat brothers. Thanks for sitting, staying and reading. Good human!
